ONTOGENY is a progressive death metal band founded in 2002 by guitarist Nate Vennarrucci. Consisting of members of bay area death metal bands ANOMALOUS and SOL ASUNDER, Ontogeny quickly garnered respect and recognition for their technicality and experimental output in a saturated bay area metal scene.

After some demo releases, the first full length album, ''Pillars of Perversion'', was released in 2007. 2010 saw the recruitment of drummer Keith Grimshaw, bassist Sam Zuerner and Chazz McConnel on vocals. Now with a full lineup, ONTOGENY released ''Discord and Disillusion'' in 2011. After touring for that album, Chazz was replaced on vocals by Tim Halo, who is also the vocalist for one of Nate's other groups; technical death metal outfit ANOMOLOUS.

In 2015, ONTOGENY released ''Hymns of Ahriman'', and they saw the departure of bassist Sam Zuerner; whom was quickly replaced by Tsunami. After a long search, a second guitar player, Alex Winkley was added to the line-up, completing the band.

Now as a five-piece ONTOGENY are finally providing what their fans were waiting for: recreating the complex harmonies and solos in a live setting. With the addition of the new members ONTOGENY is now ready to tour and unleash a new and constantly evolving sound that won't disappoint the namesake of the band.
